Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):
-
Does it work on any kind of glass?
The coating works on any type of glass, adhesion is excellent. It will work on tinted glass but of course this will also decrease the amount of light that passes through
-
What other materials can it be applied to, does it just work on glass?
Visible Vitrum has excellent adhesion to glass surfaces along with acrylic and polycarbonate sheets and film based products such as polyester films.
-
Do you need rear projection film attached to the glass to make it work?
No film is required with Visible Vitrum, the coating is the film. This product is also removable from glass with a wallpaper steamer and razor blade and removes very cleanly and easily, though it is still not affected by high humidity/heat environments. The covalent bonds of the coating are broken by steam and mechanical force such as scraping with a razor, without a mechanical force involved the covalent bonds to the glass reform. What I just stated is technical, but essentially it all means that there are positive properties that you would find unique and handy.
-
Does it give better quality experience than the normal rear projection film?
The coating gives a better quality appearance than any films you have witnessed. It will not wash out with indoor lighting regardless how bright the lights are. Some characteristics of quality are dependent upon proper application but typically even with a poorly sprayed application the image quality is excellent.
-
How does it work in direct sunlight?
Direct sunlight, or more specifically full spectrum illumination, does affect the coating to a point, but not as significantly as it does to any other film based rear-projection material. Direct sunlight on one side of the coated surface affects image quality only minimally, if direct sunlight is on both sides of the surface (this is rare) then it is detrimental, but standard uses of this material only call for indoor venues or storefronts where sunlight is only an issue one side. Neither sunlight, nor UV radiation, nor heat will affect this coating.
-
If you spray a transparent glass with your coating does it become translucent, opaque or it remains transparent?
Opacity: If applied for the maximum ambient light rejection effect and the widest angle of view (180 degrees) then the coated surface does indeed become opaque, it resembles a crystalline structure and does allow light to enter a room. Lessening the number of coats decreases the opacity but also decreases the angle of view and the ambient rejection properties. I do have a clear formulation which give a holographic effect but the areas of use are limited to areas with lower ambient lighting. The holographic coating will still perform better than the film based products on the market.
-
Can it work with glasses with antiglare effect or those that reduce the amount of light entering the room?
The coating works very well with antiglare coated materials, these actually boost its performance.
-
What is the coverage area of 1 unit (1 quart) of VisibleGlass?
The product covers a large area - Visible Vitrum is supplied in (1) quart Part 1 and 40 ml Part 2 kits (1 quart covers 32 ft² or 2.78 m2).
-
What is the difference between RPS 9plus and RPS 7plus?
RPS 9plus is the latest formulation of the high ambient light blocking formula, RPS 7plus was designed to work in low light ambient.
-
What is the Price?
We can provide you with a quotation but first I would need to know where you are located and in what volume you intend to purchase. Each quart of RPS 7plus or RPS 9plus covers 32 ft².
General information related to the coating.
Visible Vitrum RPS 9plus is an ambient light rejection optical coating designed for the professional Audio/Video experts and customized for retail installations. Goes on quick, stays strong, and removes clean and easy.
The coating is extremely durable and abrasion resistant, coated surfaces can also be cleaned with detergents without damage.
This is a state of the art optical formulation and as such it possesses many unique properties such as:
-
It is water-based and environmentally friendly
-
It is waterproof upon curing and can be used in extreme environmental conditions
-
Coating cures at normal ambient temperatures without the need of any special processes
-
Chemical & Mar/Scratch resistant – it is very durable
-
It will not fade or discolor from UV exposure
-
It does not damage or etch glass – substrate bonding is achieved by advanced chemical engineering
-
It maintains unprecedented adhesion to glass substrates and also to plastics (including films). The coating is also flexible and coated film materials can be rolled for easier transportation and storage.
-
It is removable from glass substrates without the use of chemicals and with very little effort by applying steam for 5-25 seconds and removing coating with a blade. No residue is left behind and the amount of steam necessary for removal is not significant enough to cause glass to fracture. Though the coating can be removed via such a method this in no way diminishes its long-term durability and resistance to the elements.
-
Coated glass surfaces will not be prone to fracturing due to heat buildup from sun exposure because it is designed to not retain spectral frequencies that would generate heat but instead reflects these.
-
The product covers a large area - VisibleGlass is supplied in (1) quart Part A and 20 ml Part B kits (1 quart covers 30 square feet or 2.78 square meters).
-
Some visible frequencies of light are down-converted to spectrums which are imperceptible. Coating effectively rejects all forms of simulated lighting and works unimpeded even with full spectrum natural lighting on one side and high simulated lighting on the interior without washing out the image. High contrast ratio projector is recommended for high ambient light situations involving full spectrum illumination.
-
Coated surfaces have a wide angle of view and absolutely no hot-spotting.
